Another year older

It was R’s birthday yesterday.  I think he had a pleasant day although the weather was awful.  We did have a short walk down the new coach road path.  It is a lot better under foot than it used to be (I had a nasty incident there a few years ago when I slipped off […]

Christmas over for another year

Well, that is Christmas over for another year.  We had a really good time, although I don’t think my Mum appreciated either my brother’s choice of Christmas films, or being forced to play Canasta. As an experiment, I tried cooking a goose on Boxing Day instead of the roast beef we usually have.  It was […]

Holiday in Devon

Took my Mum down south for a holiday in Devon.  We stayed in a beautiful cottage in Newton Poppleford near Sidmouth.  Unfortunately the weather was very far from beautiful – we had been going to have a swanky Devon Champagne Cream tea on Saturday, but unfortunately the rain was so torrential that the roads were […]

Cats took my Chairs

I don’t particularly want two chairs in my office, but I ended up having to because one of the cats would always want to be in here with me.  Unfortunately this has done me no good as I have now lost both of them.

Heather the Coo

I’ve been wondering for some time now about the mysterious present R was getting me for Christmas. This evening he set off for “destination X” and told me he would be back in two hours. He’d wanted to take a sheet with him and mentioned that he was worried it wouldn’t go in the car […]

Food Basket Contents

I bought a wicker basket to carry cakes and pies over for my parents. It looks more decorative than a plastic bag and it keeps things flat. Not sure how, but Schrodi found it on top of the chest of drawers in the hall and decided it would be a good place for a nap.

Lochgoilhead Five Years On

Well we have now been living in the Highlands for five years and things have actually come on apace in a number of areas. Having said this, in general it is because either R or myself actively engaged in negotiating things that mattered to us rather than just leaving them to happen. Not sure whether […]

Baby Shark

Tora wearing the “Baby Shark” costume I’ve made him to wear over Christmas. I think the tail piece could do with some work as the fin isn’t standing up correctly. His brother will also be featuring as “Schrodi the Argyll Dragon”. Neither of the cats are overly enthusiastic about their new roles. I will point […]

Weather bad and river very high

The river is about as high today as I have seen it since the first year we moved in. That was the year it rained every day between September and March. Anyway, today it is a total raging torrent and I would not give much for the chances of anyone who fell in. Our pond […]

Unreliablity of deliveries

I may have mentioned this before, but for some reason we are designated as a remote postcode, even though we are only just over an hour’s drive from Glasgow. We are in the PA range, and I’ve even seen some websites where this entire range is included as a remote postcode which is a bit […]
