Deconstructed Paella

I had a difficult challenge the other day. R doesn’t and never has eaten seafood. My brother N has suddenly decided not to eat any kind of processed meat. To me all this stuff is scaremongering by the media, and as long as you don’t live entirely on bacon sandwiches you are probably at minimal risk. Each to their own but it makes it quite difficult to make a meal for everyone. After I had to scrap the Chicken Basque I had made as containing chorizo, I made a purely vegetarian paella with onions, tomatoes, peppers, green beans, peas and olives (plus the obligatory paella rice and saffron base). I then had to cook a bowl of seafood and a bowl of chorizo separately so people could select what they wanted individually.

“Work for the night is coming” – this caused a load of extra effort. I don’t really get why people are so picky – the only thing I won’t willingly eat is offal which I really don’t like although if a stranger put it down before me for dinner I would struggle through it. I’m not that fond of milk chocolate either but I will eat it at a pinch.
