Spring sort of on its way – perhaps

I think I have mentioned before that R has a theory shared by a number of people on the Internet that spring begins on 1st March. Not sure I entirely agree with this as last year March was the coldest month of the year with stacks of snow. It killed any chance of getting plums from my tree as all the blossoms perished, but it had the side effect of more or less eradicating the midgies for the year. Actually I’d rather do without both plums and midgies.

Anyway – we are seeing the first signs of spring now after the freezing conditions last week, with the daffodils starting to push through between the fruit trees now. I’m far from convinced that the snow won’t be back though.
