Another animal rescue

Over the years, R and I have rescued a number of different animals. Swans and sheep have been the main ones, although I once saved an eel which got on to our drive. But today we added a new creature. R had heard on Facebook that a new resident of the village had lost four […]

Camino Picture

I made a rather nice picture with all the souvenirs from our Camino. Our passports with the “selos”, our Compostela certificates and various photos from along the way. I’ve hung it on the wall with my Scallop. I’m already looking forward to doing another pilgrimage – I was thinking of Canterbury to Walsingham but not […]

Snow back again

Hard to believe, but the snow was back on Beinn Beulah this morning. The temperature gage at loch level was registering -1 C. The snow was all gone by 11am though and it actually was quite warm during the afternoon.

Mum’s Birthday

Hope I don’t disclose any confidential information when I say my Mum was 80 on Saturday. My father is nine years older than her and it is hard to believe that it was so long ago that we went to Duxford to fly in a 1930s Dragon Rapide to celebrate his 80th. Sad to say, […]

Made it home!

Well J and I managed the whole walk and also made it home. We managed to get back ok. Our connections were not great – we got out of the apartment at 7am and strangely there was a taxi waiting outside. We had been expecting to have to walk a few hundred yards to the […]

La Coruna

For reasons best known to himself, J got up at the crack of dawn today, so we walked to the station and caught an early train to La Coruna. They have the strangest system of buying tickets here in Spain – you seem to have to specify both the outgoing and returning train. I don’t […]

Santiago – Rest Day

Today we were both exhausted after all our exertions so we decided just to do a little exploring of Santiago and leave La Corunna for our last day tomorrow. We went on a ride on a little tourist train to explore the city – sadly it does strike me that outside the old town they […]

Santiago Again

Santiago de Compostela is absolutely humming today. What a beautiful city. I got up at 6:30am and went over to the Pilgrim’s office to get my Compostela. I was a bit concerned that they might raise issues about the fact that we had a big gap between Leon and Sarria, but in fact the very […]

Finisterra

Today we set off for (unfortunately) a bus tour to Finisterra. Not having a car there is literally not other way to visit this area. The big legend around this is that it was what the Romans regarded as the end of the world but this can not conceivably be true as the the ancient […]

Santiago

Well we made it. In the case of J he just made it and no more as I have rarely seen anyone more exhausted than he was today. The Camino was very busy but there was a lovely atmosphere and lots of “Buen Caminos”. We passed a few lovely churches and dropped in to get […]
