Happy Birthday

My birthday today. Believe it or not I am on my own until this evening because R is speaking at a security conference in Glasgow. To be fair to him, I told him I didn’t mind, and to be even more fair, he volunteered to pick people up and bring them back, which is very kind of him.

I tried very hard to avoid getting any ‘things’ as presents this year, because I have far too much stuff already and seem to spend a lot of time throwing things out. So R bought me two boxes of healthy munchies, one (as an unexpected bonus) in a nice Art Deco box which I will keep. The brooch was a present from my sister in law.

We are all having dinner here tonight. Cullen Skink, Steak and Sausage pie, and Gooseberry fool. All very British. I got some nice paper tablecloths from Amazon – so much cheaper and more fun than spending hours ironing white tablecloths and napkins just so that someone can spill gravy or red wine all over them.
