The loch shows an infinite variety of faces as the light hits it on different days.

Lucky used to be a stray girl but has now found her new identity as a Donich Lodge boy (the vet discovered he was male when we took “her” to be spayed). He would ask you to respect his new pronouns.

The high mountain pass over the Rest and be Thankful is the main route out of the village. Here it is in winter.

Spring sky over the mountain tops.

Sunset from our front door step.

A misty moon over the mountains as darkness falls.

View over towards the loch from near the summit of Cnoc Coinnich.

A rainbow appears in a clear interval between showers.

Lochgoilhead in the distance on a clear spring morning.

As the year turns, the mountains are white on most days.

Looking across the loch from the village, clouds form a band across the hills.

Tora and Schrodi our snow Bengal brothers used to live here. RIP both of you

A dragonfly pauses for a rest by the side of our pond.

The weather here can be appalling. Here gales and torrential rain have blocked one of the village’s few roads.

The colours on the mountains fade to muted browns as autumn approaches.

The Donich Water in one of its kinder moods as it runs through our garden.

One of a myriad insects pollinating our heather.

A group of wild haggis have made a den down by the river.

Our new Highland Tiger Saphy prowling her territory. She is a demon for the wildlife with her specialized prey item being shrews. She is not adverse to mice, voles or birds however.

This is Amber aka as Bramble. She is big, black, rather podgy and a bit of a scaredy cat. We had her cloned shortly after she arrived.

Although we don’t get much snow at loch level, the higher mountains are covered for five months or so of the year

Two martens in the daylight

Great colour shots of the two martens who have been visiting recently We used to only see them in the daylight very rarely but since we got the two scared lady cats rather than the big male bruisers they seem to be coming more often.

Moose in the Hoose

We noticed Saphy and Amber patrolling round one of the armchairs in the lounge. We couldn’t see any sign of a rodent, but turning the chair on its side (having locked the girls in the bedroom) we managed to shake loose a little field mouse which was hiding in the base of the chair and […]

Having a dinner for my family and new car

Apart from me, my whole family has birthdays in the spring. We were supposed to be having a dinner on 8th April, but two days before R was driving to Glasgow and stopped in Arrochar for petrol. Then the Land Rover wouldn’t start again and he was left standing in the cold at the petrol […]

Two pine martens

Two pine martens. I think one of them is a young one and the other is the mother as martens are very territorial and one of them seems a lot smaller than the other. The woodpeckers are out in force at the moment.

Amber Squirrel hunt

We thought Amber was a staid middle aged cat who didn’t like going out much. Appears though that she still has an appetite for chasing prey. Luckily this poor little squirrel escaped.

Solar

We’ve decided to have a go at Solar power. In our usual style this is not a small simple installation, but as close as we can get (bearing in mind the Argyll climate) to being energy self-sufficient. So we are fortunate in being a south west facing bungalow with no direct shade. The only problem […]

New Start

Just an update on where I have been (not away as a guest of her Majesty!). Just before Christmas I had quite a serious accident when I slipped on the marble tiles in my bathroom and hurt both my shoulder and my ankles. It has taken me a long time to recover, which probably shows […]

End of an Era

Poor old Tora needed to be put to sleep. He was 19, rake thin, sleeping all the time and had got to the point where he couldn’t even jump on the bed. May he and Schrodi wait for us at the Rainbow Bridge.

Two Stags in Garden

We’ve had two enormous red deer stags in our garden of late. Apparently they have been seen all over the village and some meanies don’t like them. I like them even though they have been destroying our seed feeders. I also noticed that yesterday we had loads of cherries on our tree and today we […]

Not written much of late

Not written much of late, largely because I haven’t had much to write about. Don’t really go anywhere apart from to see my Mum occasionally. I’ve not been paying any attention to the idiot Boris Johnson and his idiotic restrictions but I am not going on a bus that may well have people from the […]
