Beware of the Dogs
R and I walked out along the riverside path today. When out walking yesterday we noticed that they are doing forestry work on the upper path and in places they have “improved” the track by putting huge lumps of stone in all the pot holes. Walking on very rough terrain down hill is one thing I find uncomfortable on my foot so we are having to pass on going that way until the road is bedded in with a bit of mud next time it rains heavily.
Coming back through the village we were barked at by two dogs in gardens and also said hello to a nice red setter who we sometimes meet out walking with his owner. Anyway, just ahead of us as we got to the loch was a gorgeous Labrador puppy on a lead. It was extremely keen to run up and greet us, and its owner seemed equally keen to keep it close hauled in. I was just increasing my pace to catch up with it when R suddenly stopped and took a picture of the loch.
For a moment I wondered why he was doing that as we have hundreds of pictures from right at that spot, and today was a boring dull day that wouldn’t make for a good photo. Then I realized that he was tacitly agreeing with the owner – he didn’t want me to make a fuss of the puppy and ending up walking all the way through the arboretum with the dog’s owner. I can read him (R that is) like a book.
