“Some” chillies

J was passing through Helensburgh today and I asked him to get me a bunch of bananas and “a few” chillies.

He got them from Nature’s Harvest in Helensburgh, which is one of my favourite shops as it sells stuff like gooseberries which the supermarkets have stopped selling. As you can see, they have a fair selection of different sorts.

J texted me to ask me what sort and I replied “medium red ones” and then “how many?” Unfortunately, I was out painting a door at the time so didn’t answer.

He got his idea of a few, which is rather larger than mine – I was thinking of two or three; he got eight.
