Rain and more rain

Now I am broadly back to normal, I want to try to get the garden back into shape. It has become very overgrown, and the area round the pond in particular needs a lot of work. But ever since I have been ready to get started, it has poured it down with rain. It was particularly heavy today and you can hear the river running in spate.

Anyway, in spite of the rain I managed to cut back a load of brambles and wheel barrow them up to dump on the compost heap. There have honestly been a few times in the last year when I’ve thought I’d never be able to do this sort of work again, so although I don’t greatly like doing it, I am truly thankful that I can.

After the gardening (scaring our two resident sheep in the process), I made a giant pot of minestrone soup and some homemade bread. And then R and I ate it.

We followed it up with some coffee. I used the mug R and the cats bought me for Valentine’s day.
