End of an era….
J’s parents had lived in the Little Walsingham house for over 70 years. His dad died twelve years ago and his mother died back in April. J himself lived here all his childhood, so this place is stuffed with memories for him.
Today the removal men came to take all his antique furniture and china into storage while he buys a new house. On 24th Jan I am paying one more final visit to supervise the house clearance company who are taking away the residual stuff, and then that will be that. The end of an era. Here is the famous pig all wrapped up and ready to go.
Walls of the house looking bare and cobwebbed. This is where the grandfather clock was
Yesterday we went for a last walk to the RC shrine and Slipper Chapel. Today we went to the Anglican Shrine where we lit some candles.
Then back to the house for a 1970s evening camping out in the lounge. This is the first time I have watched terrestrial TV in 20 years – and guess what was on when we turned it on? A property program.
