Made it to Norfolk
Eventually got here, although I was later than I wanted to be. Because I was so late in setting off I didn’t get to King’s Lynn until 9pm, by which time the last bus had long gone. I hadn’t prebooked a taxi and I didn’t reckon that one of the station rack would take me 35 miles at that time of night with no chance of a return fare, so I stayed in a Premier Inn and came over to Walsingham on the bus this morning.
In general Premier Inns are my favourite cheap hotel chain, but they surpassed themselves with their Premium Room in King’s Lynn. It was really big with a super sized king bed, two armchairs and a table, a separate work desk and a huge wall TV. It had a walk in shower rather than one of those stupid over bath ones, and even a Nespresso maker. There was a silent fridge with complementary water and Green and Black’s organic chocolate. All for £67 a night which was about a quarter what we paid a few weeks ago in London for a much better room.
This morning I came to Walsingham on my favourite Coastliner bus. It was a very scenic journey as the sun was just coming up off the sea. At one point we had to stop and wait for about 30 ducks to waddle across the road in single file. Also one of the stops had a cracking name “Cats’ Bottom Cottages” – can you imagine having that as your address?
Anyway, I have spent all day packing boxes.
