Heidi

My Mum used to have a cat called Heidi (he was actually a boy – at least when Lucky had his “sex change” he had a gender neutral name). She loved him dearly, and I am sure he was a nice cat at heart, but he had had a hard life with a previous owner who had not been kind to him, with the result that he was a bit fierce with everyone apart from my Mum. In particular he had several good goes at me, probably because I kept picking him up.

Heidi died many years ago at a ripe old age, and in fact he was Mum’s last cat. So for her Christmas I went through about a 1000 old pictures looking for one of him, and eventually found one.

So this was Heidi.

And this was the picture I painted of him.

Not too bad, so I put it into a nice frame and gave it to Mum as a Christmas present. I was actually trying another version which was of him sitting on the windowsill on their old house in Mossdale, but events intervened before I could finish it.
