Nineth Day of Mousemas
We had a nice meal of broccoli soup and monkfish cooked by my brother which was a bit on the healthier side than the roast beef that was our traditional boxing day fare. The crackers were from Kukoo Crackers and each had a little lego puzzle inside, with the theme being zoo animals. R managed 4 out of the 5 of them, and J did the other one, which probably doesn’t say much for the spatial judgement of my family’s gene pool.
I am continuing my “eat local and seasonable” campaign.
Here we have some locally produced food. Smoked trout and scallops from Loch Fyne, sausages from Inverary and British parsnips.
Just out of picture is a box of dates which is most definitely not local, but this is kind of the point. I’m trying buy imported out of season food when it is something we can’t easily grow ourselves, not depriving myself of coffee and bananas.
