First Snow on Bheula this morning
Today was the first snow on Bheula (717m); this is about an average date for its first appearance, and by the sound of it we have a cold week to come. My estimate is that the snowline is at about 500m today, so a long way from affecting us down at loch level.
By way of comparison, here is the same view from the day before yesterday.
I wore my proper walking boots for the first time today. In order to accommodate the lack of flexibility in my ankle, I’ve cut a 2cm incision down the side of the tongue at each side to help me get them on – I don’t think this will greatly affect their waterproofness because in my experience any serious walking in light boots ends up with your feet soaking anyway.
I managed about 2.5 miles in the boots as they felt very odd and I don’t want to push things too much.
