Loch Mazzy Seafood Bar
My Mum told me the other day that she had always wanted to go to the Loch Fyne Oyster bar. Unfortunately it would be very difficult to get her there as we would need to drive all the way to Rhu to pick her up, then drive her to Loch Fyne and all the way back to Rhu and then home for us. So over a hundred miles.
I came up with the idea that if the mountain wouldn’t come to Mohammed, Mohammed would have to go to the mountain. So J and I went to Rhu and I made a “Loch Mazzy Seafood Bar” lunch, with recipes lifted from the real Oyster bar.
We had cullen skink, a big selection of seafood served with french fries (my Mum loves chips with salad) and sticky toffee pudding. Everything was pretty good although it was sad that we never got the Cromer crabs I had ordered, seeing as we had a real son of Norfolk present (that would be J).
The somewhat amusing thing is that all the food and drink for this cost me about £70 – I don’t think we would have got much change from £300 if we had gone to the Loch Fyne oyster bar – the seafood platter alone is £130.
I did the menu with a combo of AI art, a fancy “Celtic Sea” downloaded font, Publisher, and Paint.net.
