Out of the house

Out of the house

I walked down to the end of the hydro road and back today. It was 0.7 miles there and back so that is me somewhat on the way to my target of “five miles by Christmas”.

It has been a nice day and after babying me back to the house, J went on a further walk round the community garden and found this bench on the river walk.

The inscription in Scots Gaelic means “There is no flood which doesn’t drain away”, which is very apposite as it was this time last year that the floods completely trashed the garden and washed the river path away. That it has been rebuilt, says a lot for the hard work and dedication of those who didn’t give up on it. If I may be sententious and quote Kipling “Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools”
