Progress
I’ve ditched the crutches/wheelchair now and am walking in the Aircast boot. The only part that is a little painful if I stand too long is the place in my heel where the original screws came out. Most of the scars have healed up now – there is one bit left which was where the nurse had to take a pair of industrial size pliers to to get the staples out, but that will be gone in a few days.
The K-wires come out next week, and then I have quite a few more weeks wearing the boot before I return to my own shoes. It is no big deal as I don’t have to sleep in it any more and it is not that uncomfortable to wear around the house. I am having a little competition to see how long it takes me to put it on – I am down to 43 seconds.
I’ve decided not to have any physio until after the K-wires are gone, and even then I am going to do the exercises I already had from last time first before I go back to Helensburgh for a new set.
