Local food
I’ve been trying to eat as much oily fish as possible as it is super good for bone healing. I’m not (I must admit) a huge fan of ASDA’s fish – it is not sensational in either appearance or taste, and although it looks superficially cheap, it actually isn’t (or not the way I eat it anyway).
This is a portion from Fynest Fish in Inverary. I should really have taken a photo of it before I sliced it up = but it is a substantial fillet which would happily be a main course for an adult male (that’s you R) – 200g. Although the ASDA ones look as though they are much better value as far as price goes, they are only 120g each. Personally I don’t call that a full portion, so I had been serving two of these each. This makes the ASDA option more expensive.
Also look at the lovely quality of the local salmon from Loch Fyne. It looks and tastes like sashimi grade salmon. The ASDA stuff doesn’t.
Also we got some huge local scallops from Loch Fyne.
And some local smoked trout fillets which are lovely for breakfast on rice cakes with full fat (therefore not ultra processed) cream cheese.
Followed up with some local raspberries and sometimes you can see how shopping locally is healthier and nicer than the supermarket. I realize as I say this btw how much of a well-off middle class person that makes me sound, but as that is what I am, that is quite ok.
