Nice and not nice
I went to Glasgow to do some shopping yesterday. Specifically I bought some new trainers because the ones I have (good and faithful old friends that they are), need to be retired. Due to my foot problem, the only shoes I have worn in the last year are one specific pair of trainers and some Karimor sports sandals which I originally bought to go on the Camino (in 2019). The sides of the trainers have lost all their stiffness and the soles are all worn out – particularly on the left foot outer part where I have been putting all my weight. The new ones are considerably more stable and give better support.
On the way back I went into Costa Coffee in Helensburgh for a flat white and a rather tired looking toasted teacake. I saw these sweets at the counter.
Yum I thought – I like sour sweets and I like watermelon, and these are gourmet plant based sweets with “No Nasties. All Good” on the back of the packet. Aye right – also on the back of the packet is a list of chemical sounding ingredients as long as your arm. And they don’t taste good either.
To set against this, the local Helensburgh greengrocer “Nature’s Harvest” seems to be the last place in the world which sells real genuine fresh gooseberries. I bought some and will make a crumble. The sweets can go to /dev/null.
