Toilet to Gym

I decided to convert our smallest bedroom into a gym. This room has had quite a few roles in the last few years – it was an office, then a “snug” where we were going to watch TV but never did, then a server room when I was running my computer company, and finally a cat toilet. Yes – the ladies did have their very own dedicated toilet room!

Saphy loves to go into the toilet at regular intervals, just for a general dig about, and in doing so, she scatters the wood pellet litter we use all over the house on her paws. Since I had the sore foot, this is excruciating painful if I stand on it. Also Lucky has a bit of a tendency to watch Saphy at her business which she doesn’t much like (ironically – as she enjoys watching me on the loo). So we moved the cat toilet into a store room at the back of the house and turned the little room into a gym.

I’m still furnishing it out a bit, but here is what I have so far. A shelving unit storing R and I’s weights (his are bigger than mine), an exercise bench, a bar with resistance mats and a full length mirror. I am trying to do an hour or so’s exercise a day – the physio exercises for my shoulder, general flexibility training, and also extensive strength training for my right leg, such that I will be able to stand straight up from a chair and balance on it. This is for when I am not allowed to put my operated foot on the ground. I can do 50 stand ups from a chair without using my hands, and I can stand up with one leg, the problem is not wobbling afterwards. I will get there. I can also do several laps of the hall with crutches.
