Huge storm
Storm Agnes hit Argyll yesterday with pretty dire consequences for Lochgoilhead. We have had very bad weather here in the past – notably just after we moved in during autumn 2013, and again in spring 2020, but this was the worst yet. According to our rain gauge we received 18cm in twenty four hours.
R and I went out to look at the damage. The Goil and the Donich were very high – the Donich in particular was a raging torrent.
The worst thing was that the beautiful community garden was completely submerged, and part of the river walk was completely washed away. It is not unfixable, but it is going to take quite a bit of effort and money to fix. R and I gave a decent donation but unfortunately, waiting as I am for a shoulder replacement operation, I am not in a fit state to do any digging work.
