Some fantastic wildflowers

There are some great wildflowers down around the pond. For some reason although they grow around there spontaneously, my efforts at planting them from seed in other areas never seem to take. Apparently they are easily discouraged by grasses which are more robust plants, and I must admit that I have never cleared the ground before planting the seeds. To my mind having to do a lot of prep work rather detracts from the spontaneity of scattering the seed and seeing what comes up – but that is probably me deluding myself as I don’t like digging.

I’m having yet another go at chili peppers and tomatoes – these have never been successful in the past but I am trying them indoors this time.
