Beautiful Weather

We’ve had lovely weather over the last few days.

Good for us but not so fine for the poor frog spawn. We noticed last week that as usual the frogs had been out in force – but this morning a lot of the eggs were white – meaning that frost had got to them. Having said that, the layers immediately under the surface seem to survive.

Solar is doing really well too – we have been at over 80% grid independence over the last few days, and today we have been making more than 12KW at times. This means we can run all our big appliances and the electric heating in the offices for free during the day. At night the battery kicks in – though while it is cold outside it doesn’t provide quite enough power overnight – just because we are running two very energy intensive heaters. Dependent on how the solar works out over the summer we may get a second battery next year.
