New Year

We’d been going to do New Year here for my parents, brother, and J, but for various health and weather related reasons, it was cancelled.

But actually R and I had a nice time just the two of us (four with the girls). We had some spaghetti carbonara and stood in my office for half an hour or so watching the BBC Scotland new year program with proper Scottish traditional songs – normally my brother inflicts some hideous modern show with Jools Holland on us. We listened to the bells and then sang Auld Lang Syne. As we were watching the fireworks over Edinburgh Castle on the monitor, suddenly two separate displays went off at the other side of the loch, one at Drimsynie and the other further down on the Carrick side. Due to the elevated position of our house we could see everything perfectly.

We didn’t open the champagne just for the two of us but we had a few drams of R’s malt.

Now unfortunately there is the question of what to do with all the food I had bought. It is mostly sitting in the freezer so I will upsize over the next few weeks.
