Song Thrush

R and I finally managed to get out for a walk today after it had poured with rain all week. There were three separate days this week when we individually had as much rain (around 7cm) as we had in the whole of April.

We were walking down by the school when we saw a bird seemingly being mobbed by chaffinches. We took a photo and identified it as a song thrush. It certainly had a loud song although it was rather more raucous than melodious.

Lots of snow on the mountains today down to about 300m, but I checked the camera at the Rest and everything seemed clear there.

It didn’t get properly light until after 10am today and was dark by 4pm – less than two weeks to go until the shortest day of the year.
