I’ve been watching the Great British Bake off since its inception 10 years ago and have always loved it.
I was terribly sorry to see it move over to Channel 4 – I detest advertisements and in fact would definitely never buy from any company that force them in my face. One thing I do not understand about C4 is that there is no way to subscribe to it and actually pay to get the content without the ads. Anyway, yesterday was the final straw that broke the camel’s back for me. Including the pre-show ads, there were six instalments of prurient crap during the program – each one was about 3 and a half minutes. If you have an ad blocker on it won’t let you get on the site, and if you switch to a different tab on the browser, it pauses the whole thing, so that even if you go to read a book you have to listen to their inane drivel while you wait for the program to recommence.
So I’m giving up on watching it live. I might buy it on Amazon when it comes out on Prime – or even (God help me) on DVD.
