Hedgehog

We went into Glasgow yesterday. Tora has not been down to the village much of late, but yesterday he decided (very inconveniently) to go out at 5am. When we came back at 9:30pm he was still out and his food hadn’t been touched, so very unwillingly as we were very tired we went down to the village to get him.

As we were driving (very slowly) down Hall Road, a hedgehog trundled across the road in front of us. It is the first one I have seen in the flesh since we have lived here, although we had one overwinter in the little house in our garden, which we only ever saw on the webcam. When we lived in Livingston we got them in the garden occasionally, and Schrodi once made a beeline for one – I managed to catch him before he reached it, but if he had got to it I think he would have received a very nasty shock.

We found Tora in one of his usual places – he was very unwilling to come in and be stuffed in his carry bag (he is not allowed to be loose in the new car).
