Spring is definitely here

R and I went on our usual walk round the waterfalls this morning. We noticed that in one of the ponds to the side of the path that significant frog activity was occurring and there was a load of spawn. For some reason this pool is always the first to get the frogs which is odd as it is about 200m above the loch level whilst we are at loch level and our large pool doesn’t have any activity on that front yet.
Having said that, I went down to check it this afternoon, and not only were two mallard ducks there, but on the way back to the house I saw a lovely little frog hopping across the path. I tried to take his photo but I must have misclicked because it didn’t take.
We also have daffodils coming in to bloom.

All this is very well but last year during March the weather suddenly took a turn for the worse and it started snowing again – killing off all the blossom on the plum tree. Having said that – the snow also killed all the midge larvae so we didn’t get hardly any annoying insects last year. So on balance I would say I prefer no plums/no midges.
