For the last couple of weeks I have been catching sight of a raptor around the bird table. Unfortunately it is very shy and disappears every time I am starting to take my camera out – however my friend J has done better than me and managed to get some photos while he was looking after the cats this week.
I had it in my mind that it could be an immature goshawk – so I was not posting anything about it online in case that caused someone to attack it. But the consensus on the bird forum I posted the pictures to seems to be that it is a sparrowhawk (they are quite common so wouldn’t attract the same degree of attention).
