How do you like them apples?

The apple trees in the back garden are now laden with apples – definitely the best year for them since we have been here – and somewhat makes up for the total absence of any plums.

Unfortunately, the family of jays which I strongly suspect of having stripped the cherry tree of fruit back in May are now focusing on the apples. One very bold one in the tree this afternoon wouldn’t desist when I banged on the window, and I actually had to open it and shout. It unwillingly flew off, but five minutes later it was back again. Not sure this is a battle I am likely to win.
