Doe and Fawn

Doe and Fawn

I was sitting in my office about 9:30pm yesterday – when I saw our little roe deer doe down by the candlestick primulas (she is very fond of these, in the eating sense rather than the aesthetic one).  Suddenly she was followed by a tiny fawn.  It may well just have been born that day as it was very small, but it was very lively and bouncing about (obviously bothered by the awful midgies).

Mum vanished behind the bushes and for a moment the baby was on its own before it rapidly followed her.

A magical moment – I really love these creatures and I hope they stay in our garden where they will be safe.  They are welcome to as many flowers as they can eat.
