Donich in Summer

For a blog that is supposed to be about our Donich Water – I don’t seem to have shown it much of late – so here it is in all the glory of early summer.
It is actually remarkable how quickly it can rise and fall – last week it was a raging torrent, but today it is quite low to the extent that Schrodi went about half the way over it by jumping from stone to stone this afternoon. Schrodi has always actually been quite fond of water (for a cat). When he was a kitten he used to enjoy playing with a toy balancing on one edge of the bath until one day he slipped and fell in with an almighty splash. He shot off down the stairs with a tail like a brush and that was the end of that game. Actually I am pretty sure that one or both of the cats have crossed the river before because our neighbours (closest we have) saw one of them in their garden and I hardly imagine they walked there all the way over the bridge. So I hope they are careful and don’t run in to any otters.
