Water Lilies

After many false starts the water lilies are finally out in the pond. We are really lucky we did not give up and assume they had been killed by the late frosts (I had been talking to R about pulling them out and planting some new ones) because now they are magnificent (and will be more so in a few days). In fact there are about twice as many flowers as last year. This afternoon it was sunny and there were huge dragonflies darting about, so after over a week of dull, moist and midge-ridden days it made me realize why we like summer again.
