Round Lettermay walk today
The fabulous weather is back.
Today J and I went on the longest walk we have been on together since we finished the Camino back in 2019 – in my case the longest walk I have been on since my foot started to deteriorate in 2023.
We walked over to Drymsynie, and then with some difficulty found our way on to the upper path (for some reason the route is not signposted from the holiday village itself, although it is once you actually find it – a bit daft really). Having found it, we made our way to the top.
We skirted past the big (eyesore) barn, over the Drymsynie Hydro dam and round in a huge loop. Apart from one family swimming at the dam we saw not another soul. There were some fantastic views of the loch.
There is quite a lot of downwards descent on a very rough path which is just the kind of thing my foot is not much good at, but I did pretty well considering that this was only my second proper walk in trainers (rather than boots). The walk took us back past Lettermay house where there is a spectacular “Northern Lights” clematis.
J was glad to be back at the bottom. He did very well on the walk – he is working on his fitness levels after a rather sedentary year.
We got ice lollies at the shop and then staggered home. It was 8.5 miles in total.
Now eight months since my operation and I am still improving.
