My mum’s birthday

My mum’s birthday

R is away on his travels again and missed my Mum’s birthday.

She came over to Donich Lodge with my brother and J – this was actually a goodbye to the place as I don’t think they will be back before we move.

We went to Bowmore Botanic Gardens in the afternoon.  My Mum can’t walk very well so we put her in the wheelchair I had used when I had the bad foot.  This did not work out that well because the wheelchair was a lightweight one only really suitable for indoors use or on tarmacked paths, and even the “accessible” route at Bowmore was very rough.  And it rained.

After that the day went better.  Many years ago my Mum had started writing a children’s story about our teddy bear “Big Ted” and had never finished it.  So I wrote it for her, got AI to help with some illustrations (in the style of Beatrix Potter) and published it to Amazon so she could get it on her iPad.  So that evening we put the book on the big projector and read it out – it was good fun.

And then we had a “Tastes of Argyll” meal – assorted Loch Fyne seafood, venison casserole and chocolate birthday cake with raspberries and cream.  Nae bad.

You can get the Big Ted book from Amazon for £1.25 but you can also download it from here for free 🙂
