Village Sale

I’ve now been right through our attic starting to clear things up for our move.  It is amazing what you can collect in 11 years.  I will both compliment and condemn R by saying that there was much more stuff of his than there was of mine.  The condemnation is that like me he buys way too much stuff he doesn’t really need on a whim, but unlike me, he doesn’t throw it away afterwards.  This has the benefit of the fact that we are never short of any cable that we need, and the drawback that we have ended up with boxes and boxes of redundant computer bits and associated technology.  Anyone remember the “Magic Leap” that was supposed to be the next big step in OS control?  Well it didn’t turn out to be, but we have one.  And teleprompt cameras, and dozens of obsolete mobile phones, and an electric guitar that I bought for him and he never used, and so on and so on.  I bought similar stuff but on the whole just threw it away and ended up buying an updated version of the same thing later on.

Anyway – we thought all this stuff together with masses of books, shoes, ornaments, toys and kitchen gear was going to need to go to the “recycling centre” aka tip in Helensburgh, but luckily we found a good home for it and gave it to a sale at the local bowling club where the proceeds all went to charity.

Now the garage is only half full of rubbish.

We have a moving date of the end of May for our new house.
