The progress of Maz

The progress of Maz

As you will have probably gathered, my nickname is Maz (this was from when my brother was a little boy and couldn’t say “Marion”. He said “Mazion” instead – so Maz is short for that). I made this progress chart when I came out of hospital after the operation. It is probably very sad, but I felt 70 days of incapacity was going to feel very long, and I made the board to motivate myself.

This is the completed chart. Seventy days on either crutches or in a boot was the original prognosis – each one of the days of the first eight weeks got a single gold star, and then when the consultant gave me the ok to transition out of the boot for the last two weeks, I gave those days two stars each.

The pictures on the chart take a bit more explaining. The idea at the beginning was that R and I were sad. I am the sad ogre in the wheelchair.

R is the sad sheep. He is wearing rubber gloves and has a brush and shovel because he is going to have to do the house work for weeks.

Here are the cats. I can’t think why they are sad apart from they didn’t like the noise of the Aircast boot on the wooden floors. But they look sad in this. Well sort of.

So after 70 days – the idea is that everyone is happy again.
R has his headtorch and his crocs back on. The little whale hanging from his ear shows he is doing Docker again.

The cats have the balloons out.

And finally here is the happy Maz. I have my mop and zombie knife back and am wearing my FAFO T-Shirt (and yes I really have one).

My foot is still a bit sore and stiff as would be expected, but it is properly flat to the floor and I am expecting a lot more improvement in the weeks to come. See tomorrow’s post for details.
