Roe Deer

The little roes (stag and doe) have been around a lot recently.  The other day I opened the back door and the stag was sitting (sitting!) on the lawn looking at me in a relaxed fashion.  Unfortunately he was gone by the time I got the camera out.

Then I saw the doe grazing not 2m from the window and got some photos.

She was down in the front garden this evening when I was out planting some bedding plants – I hope they don’t end up as deer food.

We are also getting a lot of visits from a very large pine marten.  I think the ones we have seen before must have been female and this one is male, because he is half as big again.  After the marten had gone the cats went outside to inspect the area where he had been and Schrodi ostentatiously sprayed urine to obliterate all scent traces him.
