R is away in Glasgow giving a presentation tonight. I had to laugh at the title of one of his slides “Surface Attack”. This is actually refers to something which is not that interesting unless you are into IT Security, but it made me think of something else entirely. So below you can see the real thing, where a hungry Microsoft Surface is making short work of a hapless iPad…

Actually I was supposed to be going with R tonight, but I am ashamed to admit that there was a siren call I could not resist coming from the office. Yesterday we got our HTC Vive VR set and I couldn’t tear myself away – it is absolutely brilliant. It makes every computer game you have played in the last year look like pong on the Atari c. 1975…. Still very new, very first generation, and very expensive – but to me this is the first real generational change in recreational IT since the iPhone.

Now the only problem is that the downloads for it are huge (even worse than the Xbox One or Visual Studio and that’s saying something) so if BT are listening, we need the new fast broadband in pronto. So get a move on before the Surface gets peckish again….

Just seen the announcement about the new Surface Pro 3…. Absolutely awesome machine and I would love one – but not sure I can justify it to myself so soon after getting the Pro 2. I’ll wait and see the reviews before I make a decision but one thing I am not doing this time is buying it from US so I can get it sooner…

Actually – I wish we made cool and beautiful products like this in Europe so that we could get them first and make the Americans wait. But we don’t for some reason and I think this is something we as Europeans need to address sooner rather than later.

The picture is of my existing tech family. R also came to the dark side yesterday when he finally abandoned Android and moved to Windows Phone (score!!).

While I was typing the previous post, I put my Surface down on the chair and went to the loo. On my return two minutes later, I found that Schrodi had not only been in that chair for hours and hours, but also that he had contributed to the blog with a very insightful comment – ffifjfuufoufauouuiuaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaafdfdfjdfkfkjdkf I’m not totally fluent in cat, but roughly translated I think it means ‘This is my chair. Now go and get me some tuna….’
