This must be the first year that my Christmas cactus has looked likely to have flowers on it for the big day. Last year it wasn’t anything like ready even by the end of January and didn’t end up properly coming into flower until February.

Looking promising for this year!

A few years ago I bought my mum a reproduction of the famous Egyptian cat for Christmas.

No sooner had we taken it out of the box than Schrodi colonized it. He didn’t quite fit into the moulded polystyrene shape but he did his best.

Advent Dec 16th – A very lovely snowscape

This was taken in 2010 when we had loads of snow. For nearly six weeks we couldn’t get the car out of the drive and the only way we had to get provisions was to walk to Asda with rucksacks. I love snow but we were getting really tired of it by the end. I shudder to think what it would be like if we had weather like this living in Lochgoilhead.

The two cats sound asleep in their beds in front of the fire. This is a rare event as normally there is a fight for one of the beds with the other one being quite ignored.

Perhaps this is just peace on earth good will to all cats….

Advent Dec 10th – A Visitor in the Snow

Last year we got some snow while we were waiting for N and J to turn up. Then when they did, N’s car (which with the best will in the world is not exactly a ruggedized vehicle) got stuck at the bottom of our drive. We had to clear it with snow shovels, and while we were doing it, J noticed some interesting tracks. They are from one of our resident herons who is visiting nearly every day at the moment – the single human footprint is J’s….
