Trying to get things done

I keep trying to get more garden related tasks done. R and I made big progress on Saturday – he chain sawed some trees that had come down in the winter storms, and I cleared massive amounts of brambles and demolished the old cat house which had been falling to pieces.

We also finally gave up on trying to get a replacement back door and decided to repair it ourselves. I think I actually did a reasonably good job of it, all things considered.

So today I was hoping to repaint the french doors to the dining room which were painted a nasty colour (on the tin it said “chocolate” but I think “sludge” would have been a better description), plus the window sills. But of course it is raining and windy; one of those “Goily” days where a bright interval lulls you into a false sense of security and makes you go out and start painting right before it starts hailing. But I am fly to that now – any wind and clouds over Beinn Bheula and I am not being lured out.

R and I went for a brief walk in between showers. The community gardens are still looking a bit bleak, but on the way back there was a huge heron in the pond. It will soon be frog time.
